Snake plants, also known as Sansevieria trifasciata, are popular houseplants due to their low maintenance and air-purifying qualities.
Air-purifying snake plants reduce allergens in their environment by releasing oxygen and moisture into the air, lessening the impact of dander and dust. Snake plants clean air all day but release the most oxygen at night, making them a great addition to any bedroom.
Here's a guide to their care:
Light: Snake plants thrive in bright, indirect sunlight but can tolerate low-light conditions. Avoid excessive direct sunlight, which can burn their leaves.
Watering: Overwatering is the biggest risk to snake plants. Water only when the soil is completely dry. In the warmer months, this may be every two weeks, and in winter, reduce watering to once a month or less. Ensure the pot has good drainage and never let the plant sit in water.
Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix, such as one designed for succulents or cacti. A mix of garden soil, compost, and sand can also be used to improve drainage.
Temperature and Humidity: Snake plants prefer temperatures between 15°C and 27°C (60°F and 80°F). They do not require high humidity and can tolerate typical indoor environments
